Board members raised a request during member comments on April 21 for detailed data about community use of district athletic facilities, citing wear, maintenance demands and staffing concerns under the district's facilities‑use policy.
A board member noted heavy daily use of fields and asked administration to compile recent data showing how often fields are used, the size and frequency of outside groups compared with Goan‑based programs, and the costs associated with maintenance and staffing. "We don't want to restrict public use, but we need to be fiscally responsible and ensure our fields remain available for our students," the board member said.
Other trustees suggested the district differentiate between small, low‑impact community uses and large, frequent programs when considering fee structures or staffing allocations. The board asked administration to provide numbers for the prior one to two years so trustees could consider whether adjustments to pricing or staffing are warranted.
Administration agreed to gather the requested usage and cost data and report back to the board for further discussion.
