Board members and administrators walked through the two revised calendar drafts. Staff said draft one provided an earlier student end date and a different staff return schedule; draft two guaranteed the spring break but could push the school year later if the district experiences many snow days. A district official noted a staff survey produced an approximately 50/50 split between the two options.
After members weighed staff-coverage concerns and the potential for makeup days to extend the school year, the board moved to approve draft two. The motion passed by voice vote 5-0. The adopted calendar will be entered into the district scheduling software, signed by required officials and posted on the district website in a more readable format for parents.
Administrators said they would monitor the district’s snow-day totals and report if makeup-day needs threaten the June schedule.
