Bradenton approves nonbinding plan to convey GT Bray Park to Manatee County, retaining city easements

The Bradenton City Council voted unanimously on April 22 to approve a nonbinding letter agreement outlining steps to convey GT Bray Park to Manatee County.
Staff said the county operates GT Bray under a long-term lease and that conveying the property would relieve the city of operations and liability while preserving city-owned facilities located on the site. The proposed nonbinding letter sets the conveyance consideration at $10, with survey, recording and attorney fees borne by the county. Administration said the city will retain or carve out access and utility easements for facilities including the public safety operations center and water infrastructure.
City attorney staff said a deed restriction or reversionary interest could be discussed in negotiations to help ensure the park remains a public recreational resource in perpetuity; the council asked staff to seek protections to preserve the public-park use in negotiations.
The motion to approve the nonbinding letter passed 5–0. Staff will continue title and survey work and return with a formal conveyance package once the legal descriptions and easement provisions are finalized.
