Interim Chief Financial Officer Chris Reer said the city's auditors will present the annual audit at the commission's Monday meeting and that the auditors issued an unmodified ("clean") opinion on the city's fiscal-year financial statements.
The audit covers the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2025, and staff said the city will again produce an annual comprehensive financial report. Reer and other staff also noted the city earned the Government Finance Officers Association certificate of achievement for the report for the 35th consecutive year.
Commissioners recognized staff's work. Alan Weekes of the finance office was singled out for his role in producing the report. The audit presentation itself will be delivered Monday by Daniel Anderson of Malden and Jenkins, the city's CPA/auditing firm, and the agenda will include an item to accept the audit.
The commission did not act on the audit at this agenda-review session; the formal presentation and potential acceptance of the audit are scheduled for the full meeting Monday evening.
