Board approves consent rezones, tax-deed authorization and hears EMS/animal-control contract notices

The Marquette County Board of Supervisors approved the consent agenda, including Resolutions 8–11, by a unanimous 17–0 vote. Resolutions on the consent agenda included:
- Resolution 8-2026: Authorizes the Marquette County Parks Director to submit an application to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for snowmobile trail financial aid and to sign related documents.
- Resolution 9-2026: Approves rezoning 7 acres owned by Sheryl Selbach from prime agriculture to agricultural residential and 61.6 acres to farmland preservation overlay (total ~68.6 acres) in the Town of Moundville.
- Resolution 10-2026: Approves rezoning a minimum of 4 acres owned by James and Hope Spillner to agricultural residential and 31.63 acres to farmland preservation overlay (total ~35.63 acres) in the Town of Newton.
- Resolution 11-2026: Approves rezoning a minimum of 4 acres owned by Dawson Vogel Sang to agricultural residential and 45.38 acres to farmland preservation overlay (total ~49.38 acres) in the Town of Packwaukee.
During the consent discussion, Supervisor John Larkin asked whether planning and zoning committee recommendations were assumed; members confirmed the rezones had been recommended by the Planning and Zoning Committee and that committee minutes would be available prior to board meetings.
Separately, Resolution 13-2026, authorizing taking tax deeds on parcels with delinquent property taxes as recommended by the Property Committee and county treasurer, passed with 17 yes votes.
Fiscal updates: County Administrator Ron reported ongoing EMS union negotiations and that the county had issued a formal termination notice for the Washera EMS contract effective Dec. 31 (the contract will continue under existing terms until that date). He also said the county had notified Whistling Winds of termination of the animal control contract effective Dec. 31. Those contract adjustments are part of efforts to trim $1.1 million from the proposed 2027 budget. Auditors Baker Tilly will review the county’s 2025 financials the following week.
Next steps: Committee minutes and further documentation will be included in the meeting packet; administrators will proceed with budget planning and notify stakeholders per contract terms.
