Ithaca council renews SRT mutual-aid pact and approves drug task-force agreement

The Ithaca Common Council approved two public-safety intermunicipal agreements on April 22: a renewal of the joint Ithaca–Tompkins Specialized Response Team (SRT) mutual-aid agreement and a mutual-aid agreement formalizing participation in a county drug task force. Both items were moved on consent and carried unanimously.
Councilmember Defendini moved the SRT renewal, stating that the city attorney was authorized to "take all necessary steps to finalize and execute the proposed agreement and have the city manager sign on behalf of the city." The item was placed on consent and carried.
On the drug task force agreement, councilmembers asked whether the measure was new. Council staff said the resolution essentially codifies existing cooperative work between the city, Tompkins County and the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office; the city attorney will finalize an amendment before execution. Councilmember Keel said the agreement reflects ongoing operational ties and thanked law enforcement leadership for their work.
Both items will be finalized by the city attorney for signature; no roll-call votes were read beyond the unanimous consent placement.
