Wayne County engineer reports summer road schedule, S60 overlay timing and archeological survey at Havard bridge

County Engineer Dillon Davenport briefed the Wayne County Board of Supervisors on maintenance schedules and upcoming projects at the April 28 meeting.
Davenport said the Engineer's Office and the Secondary Roads Department moved to summer hours on April 20, operating Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. He reported that culvert crews are continuing to grind trees and brush as weather permits, both excavators and brush grinders are working in the Millerton area and north of Corydon, and the county’s mantis unit is being used on guard rails near Promise City.
Davenport said CR Environmental has been contracted to perform right‑of‑way spraying in late summer, covering Clinton, Grand River, Jefferson and Clay townships. He confirmed the S60 overlay project is still scheduled to begin at the end of June or the first of July.
On the Havard bridge, Davenport reported the project is entering a phase II archeological survey focused on the south end; he said the team will be four people and will dig seven or eight 1‑meter square test holes, and that the work is expected in "early" summer.
Davenport's remarks provide timing and operational context for county road maintenance and capital projects; the board did not take separate formal action on these project updates during the meeting.
