Lilia Hedin told trustees the school changed restroom procedures after vandalism: students were previously limited to one student at a time and certain minutes but now are allowed to use restrooms only during passing periods unless the principal announces a break. "I am here today not to get anyone in trouble but to speak my voice," Hedin said, recounting comments she attributed to her principal and asking that students, staff and parents be consulted before major policy shifts.
Board members clarified that charter day‑to‑day policies are the responsibility of the school's governing board but noted the district approves charters and can follow up. Trustee Danny Tilman suggested the student file a uniform complaint if federal disability protections (Section 504, ADA) are implicated; district staff said they would seek to provide guidance and outreach.
The board did not take action on the matter at the meeting but asked staff to follow up with appropriate contacts and to provide information about complaint options and charter governance responsibilities.
