District recognizes state social worker, announces SkillsUSA medals and special‑education outreach growth

Superintendent and board members recognized Miss Tasha White as the 2025 Louisiana School Social Worker of the Year during the committee meeting. White, who identified herself as the school social worker at TAPS, thanked the board and said she approaches the work as advocacy for students and families.
"I am standing before you all with a grateful heart," White said, describing two decades in social work and her role as a community resource for parents and students.
Daryl Dillard, supervisor of secondary education, presented the district’s SkillsUSA state competition results: 30 students attended the state contest and 19 received medals, a 63% medal rate; nine students earned gold medals and some competitors will advance to national contests.
Blaise Pellegrin, supervisor of special education, reported that Special Olympics participation more than doubled from 51 to 108 participants compared with the prior year. He also summarized recent family education resource nights and an Easter event that served roughly 380 students over two days and noted plans for additional community outreach and talent showcases.
The committee acknowledged the honorees and program staff and encouraged continued community partnerships to support student success.
