The committee heard an update on maintenance department reforms intended to improve efficiency and accountability. Chief of Operations Mr. Greece outlined steps including mandatory Red Rover sign-in/out at school sites, assigning work orders inside the FMX system so tasks are trackable to individual technicians, weekly supervisor check-ins, and better inventory and fleet tracking.
Mr. Greece said overdue work orders dropped from 780 on April 2 to 442 as a result of the new procedures and cleanup of duplicate records. He emphasized prioritizing safety- and facility-related "needs" over discretionary "wants," improving communication with principals and closing work orders promptly when work is complete.
Board members praised the approach and asked about large month-to-month maintenance expenditures; staff said a prior carpentry project and important repairs accounted for spikes and that better assignment and tracking should make cost patterns more predictable. The committee directed staff to continue implementing process changes and return with performance metrics.
