Commission accepts county audit with no findings for FY2025, chair praises staff

The Hamblen County Commission voted April 23 to accept the county government audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, after Audit Committee Chair Rodney Long highlighted benchmarking that, he said, showed zero findings for the county on the comptroller's listing.
Long reviewed comparative metrics across Tennessee counties and said that, on the comptroller's public listing, the county’s FY2025 audit returned no findings. “This year Amanda reported last meeting we had no findings. Zero,” Long said, and he commended county staff and auditors for their work.
Some commissioners pressed for clarification on the scope of the review and whether certain categories (for example, elected road commissioners or other entities) fall under the county audit’s scope. Commissioner Miss Green questioned whether the audit missed issues she believes exist; Long and other commissioners responded that the comptroller’s published findings reflect the categories the office audits and that more targeted reviews would require additional work.
After discussion, the commission approved acceptance of the audit; the chair recorded a roll-call with the motion passing (recorded as 12 yeas, one nay).
