Neighborhood Services staff described the Love Your Block program April 22 and announced that the 2026–27 application window opens April 27 and runs through May 26, 2026. The program provides small grants to neighborhood groups for beautification, safety projects and other community-led improvements.
Since its local launch in 2015–16, staff said the program has supported dozens of small projects, community cleanups, tree plantings and public-art installations; partnerships with Public Works and Water Services allow the program to increase grant awards to up to $5,000. For 2026–27, eight grants (one per district) will be available; neighborhood groups that received a Love Your Block grant within the prior two years are not eligible so that new groups may access funds.
Neighborhood Services staff said neighborhood specialists help groups with concept development, application edits and volunteer recruitment. Staff told the subcommittee that application materials and a toolkit will be posted at phoenix.gov/loveyourblock and that the materials will be available in Spanish.
Councilmembers asked for a district-level listing of past projects and for a toolkit the council can share with community groups; staff agreed to provide materials and district lists to council offices.
