Meeker County board approves permits, accepts annual reports and hears planning updates

At its April 21 meeting the Meeker County Board approved several routine land‑use actions, accepted annual informational reports and heard updates from county staff and commissioners.
Land‑use director Greg Schultz presented a shoreline repair project (CUP #16773) for a Lake Washington property involving rip‑rap and a failing block wall; staff reviewed DNR hydrologist comments and recommended conditional approval. The board approved the permit with conditions.
Schultz also presented an interim use permit (IUP #16772) to allow a temporary second dwelling for a blood relative on a Grove City parcel for 20 years; the board approved the permit by voice vote.
Ann Steinhouse, the county feed‑lot officer, delivered the feed‑lot annual report (MPCA grant‑funded activities and inspection counts) and answered questions about enforcement, inspection procedures and liaison participation. The board approved the report.
County Assessor Missy Voit presented an annual assessment report: Meeker County has 18,179 parcels (922 exempt), three in‑house appraisers with one vacancy and local contracted assessors covering several jurisdictions. Voit described the sales ratio process, appeal workflow and recent contact volumes; the board accepted the informational report.
Commissioners also received committee updates on joint ditch abandonments, extension‑service regional staffing and Prime West compliance work. The board adjourned and noted a lunchtime gathering at the American Legion.
