At its April 21 meeting the Connellsville City Council took a series of consent and action votes on routine municipal business.
Appointments and grants: Council appointed Payton Greece to the Carnegie Free Library board (term to Dec. 31, 2028) and voted to donate $80 from line item 409.266 to the New Haven Volunteer Fire Company to purchase two flags for City Hall display on eight holidays. Council also agreed to permit the Carnegie Library’s summer reading pavilion dates and to allow a recreation program (PE in the Park) to use East Park pending insurance verification.
Personnel and procurement: The council rehired three seasonal public‑works employees (Carter Wilson, Gavin Mccoyle and Cooper Limbo) from line item 430.145. Members authorized advertising for bids on the 2026 paving project (bids due May 19, 2026) and approved advertising and accepting bids to replace the municipal building generator. Council also approved a $2,900 payment to Levi Construction to replace the pavilion roof at Woodo Wood Roof Park and authorized dugout installations at East Park with most funding provided by FET board/realtors.
Events and permits: Council approved a conditional closure of Officer McCrae Rob Bridge for the Tube Devil festival on Aug. 1, 2026 (proposed 9 a.m.–2 p.m.) pending final review by the police and fire chiefs, public‑works foreman and PennDOT; organizers will need a certificate of insurance and to satisfy traffic control requirements. Council also authorized the Parks & Recreation Board to apply for a Greenways, Trails and Recreation grant (not to exceed $250,000) for band shell improvements at East Park (application only; matching funds expected if awarded).
