Staff: wastewater plant near completion; AMI meter rollout underway and road closure planned

City staff reported the new wastewater treatment plant is about 85% complete with commissioning due next month and substantial completion projected in October. AMI meter installation stands at 1,216 meters and 3,252 lines surveyed; Stonefalls Road will close May 26–Aug 21 for MM realignment.
City staff provided infrastructure and operations updates during the April 21 council meeting. Miss Addington said construction of the new wastewater treatment plant is 85% complete and the city will begin systems commissioning next month; staff still expect substantial completion in October. Jacob Berger, the new utility director, was introduced and noted as key to the plant’s transition to operations.
In an AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) update, staff reported 1,216 meters have been installed and 3,252 lines surveyed; installation work has ramped up on line surveying, meter installations and antenna hole cutting. Staff said scheduled routes and progress updates are available on the city’s website and social channels.
Staff also announced the MM realignment project will require a full Stonefalls Road closure from May 26 through Aug. 21; the work (removal, widening and replacement) is being managed by MDOT and ESS and an alternative route map is posted on the city website.
The council received the reports without substantive questions and adjourned after mayoral remarks.
