Council advances $1.8 million Angleside pressure-zone project to May agenda

Community and Economic Director Erin Ackeret told the council the Angleside pressure zone project addresses low-pressure and storage issues and would include pipe replacement, SCADA upgrades and electronic improvements. She said design is nearly complete and the project is ready to be advertised for bids; total project value is about $1.8 million, funded in part by a legislative appropriation and city funds.
Ackeret asked the council to authorize use of BHC staff for construction management and inspection and described a proposed work order "not to exceed $102,165" for those services. She said the Washington Department of Health has approved the project scope and that construction was targeted to begin by June 1 if bids and contracting proceed on schedule.
Councilors praised staff for progressing a booster station that had been under discussion for years and moved to place Resolution 1433-0326 — authorizing the professional services work order — on the May 5 agenda for final action. Ackeret said the upgrades will support an eventual 900 new water connections by improving pressures and integrating pumps with SCADA monitoring.
Next steps: Resolution will return for a formal vote May 5 and staff will proceed to bid the project; construction management and inspection contract will be considered after bids are received.
