Perryton ISD officials told the school board that construction work at Wright and the district fieldhouse is advancing on schedule and is running below the current budget estimate.
Superintendent Mr. Brown introduced Greg Husman and Payton for a progress update. Greg Husman said crews are moving toward finishes at the high school and elementary sites, with painting and flooring underway and preparations for the next construction phase underway. "It looks like it's actually going to come in under budget. I can probably safely say it probably about at least $300,000 under budget, which is good news," Husman said.
Husman described progress on the fieldhouse metal building and utilities: electrical service has been run and transformers placed, plumbing inspections have passed, and the city is working on the water service connection. He noted the project still has outdoor utility work and site manhole work to finish but invited trustees and community members to tour the site.
District staff said they will return to the board for approval of a budget for phase three in a future called meeting. No formal board action or vote on phase three occurred at this meeting.
The update also included planning for how the district will use finished space and how to sequence future work to maintain student safety and day‑to‑day operations during the next construction phase. Trustees were not presented a final contract amendment or a formal change order at this session; the $300,000 figure was presented as a preliminary estimate from staff.
