Brentwood Parks & Recreation staff summarized a recently completed department survey that received 98 responses. Staff said 45% of respondents reported that they or family members "rarely or never" participate in recreation offerings, while roughly 84% reported neutral-or-better satisfaction with programs and facilities.
Recreation staff emphasized the department plans to use the feedback to improve participation and communications. Staff highlighted community events as the most requested type of activity, with sports, fitness and wellness also ranking highly. Open-ended feedback flagged residents desire to restore popular signature events such as the haunted walk and winter stroll; staff noted safety concerns prompted earlier removal and said they are exploring alternate routes and configurations to bring the events back.
Operational updates included the addition of 14 new programs this quarter, seven more in development (21 total), and an expansion of teen programming (teen night, teen trivia and teen trips). Staff also reported a successful launch of monthly educational programs and asked commissioners to add summer-camp staffing and training to the next agenda for review.
