Oakland County says Pontiac redevelopment project is on schedule and under budget

Oakland County finance staff reported to the Board of Commissioners that the Pontiac redevelopment project is progressing on schedule and is currently under budget.
A county financial consultant (Mr. Lefler) said the county has secured financings to cover construction draws and will begin shifting draw activity to bond proceeds as project‑level financings close. He noted a new curtain‑wall (glass) installation visible on the east side of the building and said upcoming financing closures will reclassify some short‑term strategic initiative draws into bond proceeds.
Commissioners raised operational questions about who will serve as the county’s point person for the project during construction. County staff said the implementation phase is moving from vision to construction and that finance will take a lead role for cash‑flow matters; the county’s community engagement lead, Megan Sellers, will coordinate outreach. Commissioners discussed cadence of project updates to economic development and finance committees and emphasized coordination with Pontiac city leaders on site maintenance and park planning.
Project leaders told the board parking structures are expected to go vertical soon and the goal is to be ready to begin tenant occupancy by the end of 2027. County staff said roads and Saginaw Street reconnection work are part of the infrastructure plan and will be coordinated with local partners.
