Public Works honored for recycling and snow-and-ice work

Commissioners reported Jan. 13 that the city’s Public Works Department received two recent recognitions: the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources awarded the department a Recycling Excellence award for improvements to recycling efficiencies, and the American Public Works Association presented a Wisconsin Snow and Ice Control Award in the category for communities with populations greater than 25,000.
A memo accompanying the announcements included a photograph of the Public Works director, the street superintendent (Tony) and a street operator (Greg). A staff speaker said the state recognition automatically nominates the city for the APWA national award, which will be announced in September in Chicago.
Commissioners congratulated staff and there was no further discussion or action required.
