The McHenry City Council approved a package of routine and individual items during its April 20 meeting.
On the consent calendar, the council approved agenda items 8A through 8K by unanimous roll call. Council then approved a signage master‑plan contract with Kimley‑Horn not to exceed $24,100; Alderman Dhy moved and Alderwoman Miller seconded. Alderman Graham and Alderwoman Bassie argued the city planner or a sign manufacturer could handle the task; the signage contract passed 4–3.
Council also approved the purchase and installation of an East Beach Park pavilion, authorizing the city to proceed with the project. A special‑use permit and special event liquor license were granted to McHenry American Legion Post 491 for Vetfest on Aug. 15, 2026, and the council approved a Class E (bring‑your‑own) liquor license for Twisted Limits Axe Throwing Lounge, along with an ordinance amending local liquor‑license classifications.
Where members registered opposition, it was recorded in the roll call. Otherwise, the items passed without further amendment.
