Colonial SD reports AI pilot progress; rubric due after Brisk trial

He told the committee that no incidents had been reported during pilot use.

Teachers at CMS and PW completed differentiated professional learning provided by Magic School in August; teacher leaders then led the follow‑on training. In March, the district's AI steering committee reviewed rubrics for pilot evaluations but had not yet settled on a final instrument. Dr. Gregatis said the rubric would seek teacher feedback, student feedback, and family feedback and will guide the decision about broader adoption.
Board members and parents asked whether the district would publish a clear public framework explaining where and how AI is used. A board member suggested a short explanatory video for families and asked that any materials be accessible in students' home languages. Staff confirmed an "AI" resources page is available on the district website and said they would revisit and update it as pilots conclude and policies are formalized.
Next steps: staff will complete the Brisk pilot, finalize an evaluation rubric by May/June, gather teacher, student and family feedback, and report findings to the board before recommending any districtwide adoption.
