The Planning Commission on April 13 approved proposed building elevation modifications for a retail tenant at 222 City Circle (the Avenue). Staff presented the proposal for the former Jos. A. Bank space and said the materials and colors comply with the Georgia 54 overlay design guidelines and applicable sections of the land development ordinance.
Staff described the proposed exterior as an acrylic, stone‑emulating finish marketed as Stow Signature Stone in a winter‑white field color, with an accent green (Sherwin‑Williams), prefinished white aluminum storefront glazing, and a green‑and‑white striped canvas awning. Staff told commissioners the awning material and the absence of internal illumination meet overlay rules and that the proposed colors are similar to other storefronts in the Avenue.
Commissioners asked whether the proposal met city ordinances and whether staff had experience with the acrylic material; staff confirmed compliance and said the product meets the city’s requirement for a durable hard surface, though one commissioner said he had not previously used that product. Commissioners expressed support for the design, calling it compatible with surrounding tenant spaces and a positive addition to the retail center.
A motion to approve the building elevation modifications for ARY at 222 City Circle was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
