He described concerns about tax-exemption tiers in the state law and said the council should ask staff to coordinate with neighboring cities before contacting state representatives.
Mayor Corinne Abeyland said Neptune Beach officials had already raised the issue with the Florida League of Cities during trips to Tallahassee, and she urged residents to contact state representatives she named in the meeting record. Councilors discussed asking for clarifying development plans from Atlantic Beach before any water-supply commitment tied to a proposed site and suggested placing the matter on future interlocal discussion agendas.
Separately, councilors described increasing parking pressure near the beach during good weather and suggested paid parking on main approaches with resident-only side streets. The mayor scheduled a workshop in two weeks to hear public input and to draft options for residential parking and guest mechanisms.
The council closed comments and adjourned the meeting.
