School committee approves Marblehead High student trip to Portugal

Marblehead School Committee members unanimously approved a Marblehead High School field trip to Portugal slated for April 15–24 after a presentation by Kelly, the high school’s lead world‑language teacher.
Kelly described an itinerary based in Lisbon and Porto with day trips to Sintra and Coimbra, cultural and historical site visits, a Portuguese cooking class and other educational activities. She said the group will seek to limit hotel moves by using two base cities and will work with the same tour company and tour guide who accompanied students on a prior trip.
Committee members praised the experiential learning opportunity and confirmed plans for repeat chaperones and administrators traveling with the group. The motion to approve the trip passed on a roll‑call vote (Jen, Henry, Melissa, Kate and Al in favor, 5–0).
