Village of Dolton officials on April 20 advanced a proposal to change the municipal water billing cycle from quarterly to monthly, target a Jan. 1, 2027 start date and strengthen delinquency procedures. Finance Director Michael Bryant told the Committee of the Whole the change would let the village forecast monthly cash flows, detect leaks sooner and align utility billing with monthly expenses.
Bryant said the proposal would set monthly payments due on the 15th, mark accounts delinquent 15 days later, and schedule shutoffs on the first Tuesday of the following month for accounts that remain unpaid. The plan raises the reconnection fee to $100 (from $75) and includes options for CDs and money-market accounts intended to improve the village’s cash position.
