Davie County OKs partial closure of Point Road at request of Three Rivers Land Trust

Planning staff described the closure as a relocation of an existing gate roughly 1,000 feet to the south of the current gate on property owned by the land trust. Travis Morhead, executive director of Three Rivers Land Trust, told the board the change would “provide more security for us and … help with trespassers.” He said the trust had worked through the county’s required notice and hearing steps and answered questions about the gate location.
After Mr. Morhead’s presentation the board opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers objecting. A motion to approve the closure was made and seconded, and the chair announced the vote was unanimous.
The action will allow the land trust to relocate the security gate and restrict public access to the portion of road described in the applicant’s petition. County staff said the administrative requirements for the closure — including notice to adjacent property owners and posted notices along the road — were on file with the clerk.
No appeals or follow-up conditions were announced at the meeting; the board’s vote authorizes county staff to finalize the closure paperwork and record the related resolution.
