The district’s project manager updated the board on construction progress at the new combined school site and housing units. Two driveways have been poured and carports are being erected; interior work on the second housing unit is complete and utilities (water and gas meters) are pending installation. Village vendor setup with the Public School Facilities Authority (PSFA) is required for payment processing for some water meters.
Soil samples taken during earthwork revealed several values outside expected compaction and moisture ranges; samples were sent to Geomat for testing. The project manager asked Geomat and Scott Barry (consulting engineer referenced in the meeting) to meet with the contractor to address remediation before foundation work proceeds. The manager emphasized that foundation errors would have major consequences and that the team is monitoring moisture and compaction closely.
The district reissued an FF&E RFQ (fixtures, furnishings and equipment) after a line-by-line review of contractor scope. Vendors will submit quotes by May 14 with low/medium/high pricing options to help determine PSFA funding and district purchases.
Next steps: continue soils testing and remediation planning with Geomat and contractor; collect vendor FF&E quotes and return to board as part of procurement and budgeting actions.
