Warren County board signs off on policy updates and approves personnel report after closed session

During its Feb. 18 work session the Warren County School Board approved several policy updates and later convened an executive session to consider personnel matters and the substitute services contract.
Policy approvals: Administrators presented the third readings of a packet of SBMA policy updates and two specific policy revisions — BCE (school board committees) and BCG (school attorney). Each policy was presented as reviewed by the policy committee and, where applicable, the board’s attorney; motions to approve were made, seconded and recorded as carried.
Executive session and personnel actions: The board then moved to a closed meeting under Virginia Code section 2.2‑3711 to discuss personnel matters (personnel report, addendum and employee #2026218‑01) and the ESS substitute contract (award or negotiation strategy). After certifying the closed meeting, the board returned to open session, moved to approve the February 18 personnel report and addendum, and recorded the vote as carried in the meeting record.
The board did not disclose contract details in open session; administrators said contract negotiations related to ESS remain part of closed‑session bargaining strategy.
