Geary County commission approves April 13 minutes, notes signed local disaster emergency

The Geary County commission approved the minutes from its April 13 meeting and noted that a local disaster emergency related to a fire had already been signed, commissioners said during a brief session.

The commission leader announced, "The commission is back in session with no action taken," and a motion to approve the April 13 minutes was moved and seconded and then carried. Kathy, asked whether she had anything to add for the minutes, replied, "No, I do not."

Commissioners also reviewed items for next week’s agenda. Crystal is scheduled to present; Tammy will deliver a weekly report and lead a second-quarter capital improvement plan (CIP) work session; the sheriff is set to give his report; and Jake Jason Lancis will present the EMS first-quarter report. The commission said it will host a joint meeting with the PBC on May 27.

Members requested that Troy be placed on the agenda; an executive session with Troy was requested to discuss an item the speaker referred to colloquially as "the chicken thing," which was described as coming from the NPC. No substantive details about that item were provided during the session.
