Dredging under way at Keegan Bayou to reduce flooding; council notes $2–2.5M cost

Officials said a barge is in place at the mouth and crews will work upstream toward Division Street; the bayou has not been dredged since Hurricane Katrina, and staff expect to encounter significant debris. A council member said the project cost is in the $2–2.53 million range and could take several months, though staff will confirm a firm schedule.
Council members urged residents to be patient during the work and said they would provide further updates as sediment controls and environmental measures are implemented.
