Burkburnett approves lease with Wichita County, IT contract and 2026 election order; BDC and admin reports provided

Lease: The board approved a nine-month lease to provide two small offices in the fire administration building at 108 East Williams Drive for Wichita County during construction; staff said the rate is $488 per month and that the space will be shared with the fire department. The motion carried unanimously.
IT contract: Commissioners approved a 12-month statement of work with Centrio Solutions LLC for co-managed IT services, cybersecurity and day-to-day operations. Staff said the master services agreement and the statement of work reflect legal-team changes and align with budget parameters.
Elections: Clerk read Ordinance 1106 ordering the May 2, 2026 general election to elect commissioners for places five and six; the board adopted the ordinance to remain in compliance with state election code. A separate joint-election contract with Wichita County was not ready and was continued to the February meeting.
BDC and other reports: Lindseay McNab Fox presented the BDC update on behalf of director Travis Hagard. Items included a proposed downtown mural presentation, progress on the Wheels of Wonder museum website and a lease-purchase for an F-350 to support a mobile learning lab (the exact expenditure amount was not specified in the packet). McNab Fox said the Wheels of Wonder gala was rescheduled to March 21.
Finance and operations: Assistant city managers reported January sales tax of $164,962 (about $17,000 above January of last year), near-target property-tax collections, staff changes (Jeff Kirch moved to city hall), timekeeping implementation progress, and that water and sewer revenues are tracking projections. Staff said bond payments fall in February and that snow-response equipment had been prepped.
What’s next: The joint-election contract will return in February; staff will post the Taylor Street drainage RFP and continue to report on BDC projects and IT implementation.
