The Rotary’s application followed the policy’s public‑review process; the recreation commission held a hearing and recommended the naming after hearing no opposition.
Rotary President Barbara Ward accepted council’s thanks and said the club intends the donation to support plaza amenities and future community performances, while staff said the funds will be appropriated to parks/community projects for Bob Hart Square additions.
The motion passed on a council vote with Councilmember Jeang recorded as the lone no vote. The council also asked staff to work with the Rotary on tasteful, plaque‑style signage and to return with specific project uses for the donation.
