The Lewistown City Commission approved several routine items during its meeting, including the consent agenda, a purchase for the wastewater treatment plant, and a business license.
Consent agenda: The commission moved and approved the consent agenda, which recognized claims paid from April 1–17 and included finance and administrative items. Staff answered questions about library line items and hazardous-tree removals.
Wastewater UV rack: City Manager Holly Felts presented a sole-source purchase for a proprietary UV drying rack from Trojan Technologies with a price just under $18,000. Felts said funding is available in the current budget for the repair. Commissioner Huitt moved the purchase; the motion passed on roll-call vote.
Business license: The commission approved a business license application for True North Electrical, a contractor based outside the city limits that does work inside Lewistown. Staff confirmed insurance and paperwork were in order; Commissioner Robertson moved to approve and the motion passed.
Why it matters: These votes authorize routine capital maintenance and economic activity that the city says are covered in existing budgets, allowing staff to proceed with repairs and permitting that affect utilities and local contractors.
Next steps: Staff will execute the UV equipment purchase and process the business license for True North Electrical; the items were recorded as approved in the meeting minutes.
