Fulshear council certifies election results and swears in mayor, council members

At the May 12 special meeting the Fulshear City Council approved two ordinances canvassing election returns and then conducted a swearing-in ceremony for returning and newly elected officials.
On voice votes the council approved ordinance 2026-1536, which canvassed the returns of the May 2 special election (the item as stated referred to a quarter-cent for promotion/development of business enterprise and a local sales and use tax at a 1.25% rate), and ordinance 2026-1535, which canvassed the May 2 general election results to fill mayor and council seats. Both measures passed on voice votes.
Outgoing council members offered final remarks of thanks. The council then administered oaths of office. Donald McCoy repeated the oath and was sworn in as mayor; other officials sworn in during the ceremony included Andrew Russell (council member at-large), Abi Utakar (council member, District 2), Randy Connor (District 5), Omar Pena (District 3) and others who signed their oaths on the dais.
The special meeting adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
