Allendale Charter Township — Grand Valley State University faculty and student researchers presented survey results and conceptual Town Center designs to a joint session of the Allendale Charter Township Board of Trustees, the Planning Commission and the Downtown Development Authority on April 27, 2026, at the Allendale Charter Township Auditorium.
Professor Chad Frederick of Grand Valley State University led the presentation alongside students Emma Raisch, Jack Skinner, Kamiah Boone, Elizabeth Pung and Sydney Szydlowski, who summarized survey data and preliminary design concepts related to Town Center planning and community preferences. Several trustees, planning commissioners and DDA members asked questions and offered comments during a discussion that followed the presentation.
The meeting record notes that the Planning Commission and the Downtown Development Authority did not have quorums; both bodies participated in discussion only and did not take any official actions during the session. Board members present for the trustees’ roll call were Mr. Elenbaas, Ms. Hansen, Mr. MacDonald, Mr. Smit, Mr. Zeinstra, Mr. Vander Wall and Ms. Schuitema.
