Brown County appoints new emergency management coordinator and approves donation of sheriff’s dispatch furniture

Brown County — The Brown County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2026-17 on May 4, 2026, appointing Brandon Roberts as the county’s Emergency Management Coordinator and voted to donate replaced dispatch furniture from the Sheriff’s Office to other entities.
Commissioner Richard Tesoriero moved to approve Resolution 2026-17 appointing Brandon Roberts; Commissioner William Pollock seconded, and the motion carried. Brandon Roberts was named in the motion as the county’s Emergency Management Coordinator.
Earlier in the meeting, Sheriff John Merchant told the commission he could donate dispatch furniture and consoles that are being replaced and are approximately 15 years old to other entities that could use them. Commissioner William Pollock asked whether Horton’s dispatch office could be offered the equipment first. Chairman Lucas Heinen moved to donate the furniture to other entities; Commissioner Richard Tesoriero seconded and the motion carried.
The board also approved routine minutes for April 27, 2026 (motion by Commissioner William Pollock; seconded by Commissioner Richard Tesoriero) and approved the April 30, 2026 minutes with one correction (motion by Commissioner Richard Tesoriero; seconded by Commissioner William Pollock).
County Counselor Austin Parker requested a brief executive session to discuss non‑elected personnel pay and performance. At 1:53 p.m. Chairman Lucas Heinen moved to recess into a five‑minute executive session to protect employee interests; Commissioner Richard Tesoriero seconded and the commission recessed. The board returned to open session with no action taken.
The commission discussed, but did not decide, costs for patriotic banner brackets and possible grant funding to cover municipal costs and pricing for individuals who wish to buy banners. Chairman Lucas Heinen moved to adjourn at 2:31 p.m.; Commissioner William Pollock seconded and the motion carried. The next regular meeting is Monday, May 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
