County staff updates commissioners on transit center and IT improvements

County staff updated the board May 12 on two multi-department projects: the new transit center and several county IT initiatives.
On the transit center, staff said a walk-through found framing complete and that one planned conference room was removed from the plan to enlarge other space after input from users. Exterior work by a land bank/contractor was pushed to June 1, delaying elevator delivery and possibly affecting the schedule; staff said they are aiming for occupancy by Oct. or Nov. 1.
IT Director Trevor reported work across several fronts: a recent period of lower ticket volume (302 IT support tickets in the reporting window versus higher counts previously); completed VoIP and credit-card processing upgrades for the title office and clerk so they can accept card payments; consolidation of elections servers to one machine; deployment of roughly 24 new sheriff's-office computers (about half deployed); Wi‑Fi access-point work for Mount Vernon Fire Department vehicle bays; and progress on single sign-on and multi-factor authentication for public-safety software. Trevor said these projects will continue through the month and IT is coordinating with departments on rollout details.
No board votes were required for either update; staff will return with schedule and coordination updates as the projects progress.
