Commissioners approve donation, land‑use waiver and several administrative transfers

At its May 12 meeting the Knox County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine items including acceptance of a donated storage building for the Park District, signature authority to process a variance for United Aggregates with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), a satisfaction of mortgage for a CHIP/CDBG file, and several small internal transfers.
Staff described the storage building as a 12-by-20 steel structure to be sited adjacent to the picnic shelter at the Bridge of Dreams on the Madison Valley Trail, provided at no purchase cost with a support letter from the Mohican Valley Trail Board. The chair moved to accept the donation; a commissioner seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
On the United Aggregates matter, staff said the company requested a temporary variance from the 50‑foot setback while materials are dredged; they reported United intends to reclaim the dredged area to 50 feet when work completes. Commissioners authorized signing the ODNR paperwork to process the request.
Staff presented a satisfaction-of-mortgage for a CHIP program file (Paula Hashman, West Rambo Street, Danville) and said it appears to be the last remaining old CDBG/CHIP mortgage; commissioners approved releasing the lien so staff can clear it from the recorder’s office.
Finally, the board approved administrative transfers: Young Family Services up to $4,999.75 and two transfers for JFS (one not to exceed $15,000.25 and one not to exceed $22,616.27). All approvals passed on voice votes.
