Council approves budget amendment, ADA plan, tax-deed criteria and sale of 305 W. Mercury

On Jan. 7 the Butte-Silver Bow Council approved four resolutions on final reading: a budget amendment to spend a Town Pump donation for gas masks, criteria for holding unsold tax-deed lands, adoption of an ADA Title II self-evaluation and transition plan, and sale of property at 305 W. Mercury. Votes were mostly unanimous; the property sale passed 9-1.
The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved four resolutions on final reading at its Jan. 7 meeting.
Resolution 2025-65: Amended the fiscal-year budget to appropriate unanticipated donation revenue from Town Pump Inc. for the purchase of gas masks. John Morgan moved and Hattie Thatcher seconded; vote recorded 10 yea, 0 nay.
Resolution 2025-71: Established criteria for classifying unsold tax-deed lands and determined certain parcels should remain in city-county ownership because of compelling public interest. Motion passed 10-0.
Resolution 2025-73: Adopted the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan as a guiding document for accessibility planning. Motion passed 10-0.
Resolution 2025-74: Authorized sale of a parcel known as 305 W. Mercury for economic or community development purposes. The motion passed with nine yeas and one nay (Commissioner Russ O'Leary voted nay); the other commissioners recorded yes votes.
All four resolutions were moved by Commissioner John Morgan and seconded by Hattie Thatcher at the meeting. Where recorded, votes were entered into the council’s roll-call: the three items on the budget amendment, tax-deed criteria and ADA plan passed unanimously; the property sale passed 9-1.
