An agency official (speaker S5) introduced the estimate and described the project's purpose: the current Milestone system requires processor capacity the county does not have without standing up additional identical servers, while adding a purpose-built management server for the Mirasys platform would distribute load and allow two existing servers to be repurposed for storage. A technical presenter (S6) added that the management device will handle camera connections and reduce processor and memory load by about 15 percent while preserving retention for incident-related cameras.
The speakers said the approach avoids provisioning two new servers and external storage solely to move to the latest Milestone version. They said the longest retention in current configurations is about six months on select cameras, and the new setup would allow repurposing older servers as space falls off.
A board member moved to approve the estimate and the motion carried 5'00.
