The Collegedale City Commission on April 20 approved a change order to the city's 2025 paving contract to make repairs at Talent Road and a settlement patch on McDonough.
Public works staff explained the original 2025 paving contract with Wright Brothers is complete but has remaining balance; staff identified two locations needing additional work and presented an estimate from Wright Brothers for a little over $84,000. Staff said the added work will be "a little more than $17,000 to $20,000 over the original contract amount" but will still be within the city's budget for paving.
A commissioner asked whether the work needed to go back out to bid if it was not in the original scope. Staff replied that because unit pricing remains the same and the change is not a significant quantity alteration, the work can be handled as a change order under the existing contract. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the change order by roll call.
