Montgomery County proclaims Public Safety Appreciation Week, highlights new joint operations center

Montgomery County leaders on a May 2026 council occasion proclaimed Public Safety Appreciation Week and publicly thanked the county’s roughly 4,100 public safety employees for their work and sacrifices.

The chair opened the session by saying the proclamation “allows us to pause, to pay tribute, and to thank our public safety professionals,” and noted the county launched a public safety joint operations center created by the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security at the county’s public safety headquarters in Gaithersburg, in District 3. The chair said the center “will represent a major advancement in performance and handling of time critical actions throughout the community.”
