Gibson EMS reports April call volumes, new ambulance delivery and successful pediatric resuscitation

Staff reported that an ambulance ordered last year is expected to arrive in mid‑to‑late June; an older ambulance currently serves as backup after undergoing engine and turbo work and one unit sustained damage after striking a pole and has been turned over to insurance staff. The representative also described National EMS Week activities, community outreach at the spring market and donations by local businesses providing meals for crews.
The EMS presenter recounted a recent pediatric code: first responders and dispatchers performed coordinated CPR and advanced care, resulting in return of pulses and breathing and a child discharged home. Family members visited the station to thank crews; St. Vincent hospital also contacted EMS to praise the response.
What’s next: EMS will take delivery of the ordered ambulance when it arrives and continue community outreach and training; council members thanked EMS for the report and the successful clinical outcome.
