Coweta County honors Dr. Ashley Dawson as 2026 National Schools to Watch Teacher of the Year

The Coweta County Board of Education recognized Dr. Ashley Dawson of Blake Bass Middle School as the 2026 National Schools to Watch Teacher of the Year during its May 12 meeting.
Principal Dr. Cindy Bennett introduced Dawson and described her as “representing the very best of middle grades education,” citing Dawson’s roles as mentor, coach and sponsor of multiple student activities. Bennett said Dawson “creates learning experiences that are engaging, relevant and student-centered” and that her influence extends beyond the classroom.
Public Information Officer Dean Jackson and district leaders invited Dr. Dawson and guests forward for the recognition. A community speaker who noted they were presenting on behalf of Representative Lydia Glaze offered congratulations as well.
The board offered verbal congratulations. No formal action was required for the presentation.
