Holly Area Schools presents long-term facilities master plan; community survey shows support as district explores projects at 'zero mill' change

Superintendent Roper and representatives from GMB and AUCH briefed the Holly Area Schools Board of Education on the district’s Long-Term Master Plan on March 9, describing community outreach and survey results and outlining next steps.
Roper said the district conducted extensive outreach — mailed postcards with survey links and QR codes, emails and texts to families, website posts and presence at community events — and that survey responses showed a high percentage of residents selecting 'Support' or 'Strongly Support' for the proposed facilities projects. Roper said the survey results and an accompanying FAQ would be posted on the district website.
Tom VanDeGriend of GMB provided additional detail and said the planning team is evaluating options to move forward with the recommended projects without increasing the millage rate. According to the presentation, the district explored a scenario described as a 'zero mill increase' that would advance projects while preserving current tax rates.
The board did not take a vote on the master plan at this meeting. Superintendent Roper said further public information will be posted online and that the planning process will continue with additional community engagement and analysis before any funding decisions are taken to the board.
