Commissioners approve proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month and agreements for CDL training and a pregnancy resource coordinator

Delaware County commissioners on April 7 accepted a proclamation declaring April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and received associated visibility materials from CASA Director Mark Ogle.
Chairman David Poindexter read the proclamation into the record and the board voted to accept and sign it. Mark Ogle showed the commissioners a wooden child cutout intended to be adopted and displayed in support of the proclamation; Ogle said, "we can change a child's life for the better."
The board also approved an agreement with Justin Patterson for county-funded CDL training. Human Resources Director Vicki Cossairt said the CDL program addresses a county need to certify drivers; the trainee agrees to remain in county employment for at least one year or repay the full training and testing cost if they leave earlier. Commissioner Beck thanked Cossairt for establishing the program.
Separately, the board received and filed an agreement submitted by the Delaware County Health Department for a Pregnancy Resource Coordinator. Health Department Director Luke Elliott said the position is paid by the state and will cost the county nothing.
All three items were approved by roll call with Poindexter and Beck voting yes.
