The Town of Sellersburg Parks Board voted unanimously on May 12 to extend a concession discount previously available to town employees to KDM employees working at the Sellersburg Pool.
Amy Campbell, who opened the meeting and led roll call, said the discount was a “good gesture, a good partnership kind of thing” for KDM staff who work long hours and have only short onsite breaks. The board approved extending the benefit to KDM employees with a 5-0 vote.
The decision followed a broader update on pool operations. Campbell told the board she had met the previous day with town-side managers and several KDM employees to clarify timelines, staffing and expectations. She said town leadership would attend a pool staff meeting to make sure frontline employees understood roles and schedules.
A board member told the meeting that some families had complained about inconsistent communication from KDM, citing multiple platforms and unclear messaging. “Families are just feeling out of the loop, confused,” that member said, and asked whether KDM had a single chain of command for staff communications. Campbell said KDM had identified points of contact and that its site supervisor was expected to schedule a full-staff meeting to establish expectations.
Board members also addressed routine maintenance: Scott, a town staffer referenced in the discussion, has been performing in-house tile and grout repairs at the pool to limit contractor charges, the board said. Members asked the town to confirm scheduling for a full deck cleaning and to coordinate that work so it precedes seasonal splash-pad winterization and reactivation tasks.
The board did not identify a formal mover or seconder for the concession discount motion in the transcript; the vote was recorded as unanimous, 5-0. The board indicated staff will follow up by email to confirm cleaning dates and to ensure a single point of contact at KDM for family communications.
The meeting then moved on to other agenda items and adjourned after routine closing votes.
