Richardson ISD board certifies May 2 election, declares Nasley Birney and Eric Eager winners

The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees met in a called session on May 12, 2026, to canvass returns from the May 2 trustee election and formally certify the results.
Trustee Chris Poteet, a member of the Richardson ISD Board of Trustees, said the board had a quorum and read the canvass materials showing vote totals for Single Member District 3 and At-Large Place 6. The district reported that Nasley Birney received 655 votes (62.8%) in District 3, Luis Fernando Rojas received 76 votes (7.29%) and Euan Blackman received 312 votes (29.91%). For At-Large Place 6, Eric Eager received 4,634 votes (64.01%) and Blake Sawyer received 2,605 votes (35.99%).
"Pursuant to this official canvas, Nasley Birney is declared elected trustee of District 3 and Eric Eager is declared elected trustee of At-Large Place 6 for the Richardson Independent School District in accordance with Texas Education Code section 2.051," Poteet said.
Trustee Harris moved to adopt the resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the May 2, 2026 election; Trustee Chris Poteet seconded the motion. Trustee Harris thanked the candidates who ran, saying, "I just wanna take this opportunity to thank all of those who stepped up to the plate to run for this board. We really appreciate it. This is a hard job right now, and so we absolutely appreciate all those who stepped up. So thank you very much." The motion passed 2 to 0.
No community members had signed up to speak during the public-comment period. With the canvass resolution adopted and no further business, the board adjourned at 5:36 p.m. on May 12, 2026.
