Board honors longtime member Rick Moore, recognizes students and Dr. Martin Knox

The April 13 meeting included several public recognitions. Board members and state Representative Donna Barnes publicly thanked and honored Rick Moore for more than two decades of service to Raytown schools and the community. A plaque presented by the board thanked Moore for service from 2005 to 2026; during his remarks Moore reflected on graduations, COVID-era challenges and the district’s facilities accomplishments.
Students and staff presented a Ray of Hope recognition for the Raytown South High School boys varsity basketball team, celebrating a 14–6 season and a deep postseason run. Players and coaches described team unity, growth and community support; one player said the season "felt great" and credited the coaches.
Students also presented a nomination video praising Dr. Martin Knox for her leadership; board members said she will officially receive the 'Heart of a Champion' award later in the week. Student comments emphasized that Dr. Martin Knox is "nice, loving and positive" and that she connects with students, listens and takes action when issues arise.
Student council representatives reported StuCo awards, the Jellybean Festival, prom planning and scholarship recipients. The board noted the district’s community engagement and expressed appreciation for volunteer and donor support.
